P
PH 反应

The urine can be acidic or alkaline depending on our food intake and the time of the day the sample is taken. The types of crystals detected in the urine will vary with the reaction of the urine.

Phosphate 无机磷

Phosphate is primarily involved in bone metabolism. High levels are seen in normal children with active bone growth. Patients with kidney failure or bone disease also have high phosphate levels.

Platelets 血小板

Platelets are small cytoplasmic fragments of the megakaryocytes which are found in the bone marrow. They play a major role in normal blood clotting and bleeding prevention. Platelet count below 50x109/l is associated with prolonged clotting and bleeding times, bleeding into the skin and tissue is seen in patients with leukemia, ITP and dengue haemorrhagic fever.

Protein 蛋白质

Protein in the urine usually indicates the presence of kidney disorder and should be present in every sample. Small amount of protein may be present in concentrated urine of normal person and also after strenuous exercise.

R
Rheumatoid Arthritis Factor (R.A. Factor) 风湿关节炎因子

Rheumatoid arthritis is a severe form of joint disease affecting mainly the joints of the hands and feet. Patients with rheumatoid arthritis have high levels of R.A.Factor and this may precede the onset of joint symptoms. A small group of patients however have normal levels.

S
SGOT / AST (aspartate aminotransferase) 麸氨酸草乙酶

This enzyme is present in cells of many organs like liver, heart, skeletal muscle and blood cells. High blood levels are associated with cell destruction in the organs like acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) and hepatitis.

SGPT / ALT (alanine aminotransferase) 麸氨酸丙酮酶

This enzyme is present in high concentration in liver cells. High blood levels indicate destruction of liver cells and their release into the bloodstream.

T
T4 Concentration 甲状腺素

This hormone is produced by the thyroid gland and regulates the metabolic processes of the body. High levels are seen in the disease hyperthyroidism. Symptoms include weight loss, tremor of hands, anxiety and increased sweating. Hypothyroidism (low levels) is due to reduced production by the gland and results in slowing down of metabolism with mental dullness, physical slowness and weight gain. The gland can be enlarged due to cysts or cancer and the level of free T4 may or may not be affected.

Triglycerides 三酸甘油脂

This type of fat is also found in fat tissue of the body and is a major source of energy for the body. Excess calories are converted to triglycerides and stored as fat tissue. Very high blood levels are associated with coronary risk.

U
Urea Breath Test (UBT) 尿素呼气检验

The urea breath test is a rapid diagnostic procedure used to identify infections by Helicobacter pylori, a spiral bacterium implicated in gastritis, gastric ulcer, and peptic ulcer disease. It is based upon the ability of H. pylori to convert urea to ammonia and carbon dioxide.
